Maňásková, Tereza ; Chromý, Pavel (advisor) ; Hána, David (referee)
The presented work deals with the topic of gender differences in the creation of social capital of territorial communities in the Tábor district. The main goal of the research is the analysis and evaluation of the process of social capital formation with a focus on gender differences among actors of the local political elite in the Tábor district. The assumption of differences during the formation of social capital of actors from the perspective of gender is based on a review and discussion of general starting points. The main concepts addressed in the first part of the work are the concept of gender itself and its formation during life, the related gender stereotypes in society, social capital and its formation, forms, or measurement. Last but not least, the work deals with the discussion of women's political participation in the Czechia. In the empirical part of the work, I will first focus on achieving the partial goal of the work, namely the analysis and evaluation of women's representation in municipal politics in the Tábor district, emphasizing the explanation of conditions that are crucial for women's entry into municipal politics. I tried to achieve this through quantitative research, namely the collection and analysis of data on all 110 municipalities in the Tábor district between...
Financial Impact of Trust and Institutional Quality around the World
Kapounek, S. ; Kočenda, Evžen ; Kouba, L.
We investigate the financial impact of social trust, institutional quality, and regulations. As a testing ground we employ a unique, large, and hand-crafted dataset of more than 850 000 lending-based crowdfunding projects from 155 platforms across 55 countries during 2005–2018. We show that the impact of social trust is positive but economically less pronounced than that of institutional trust proxied by legal and property rights protection and regulation. Moreover, the financial impact of social trust is greater at the national level, while impact of institutional quality dominates at the international level. Nevertheless, the financial impact of trust and institutional quality around the world is positive, which is an encouraging implication under increasing anonymity and internationalization of financial environment.

Prokop, Daniel ; Tuček, Milan (advisor) ; Katrňák, Tomáš (referee) ; Straková, Jana (referee)
PROKOP, Daniel. Dynamika sociálního vyloučení v České republice: Nerovné šance ve vzdělávání. Praha, 2022. 124 s. Disertační práce (Ph.D.) Univerzita Karlova, Fakulta sociálních věd, Institut sociologických studií. Katedra sociologie. Školitel: doc. Milan Tuček Abstract This cumulative thesis contains three papers focused on analysis of inequality of educational opportunity (IOE) and limited educational and social mobility in the Czech Republic. The first article analysis effects of parent's cultural, social, economic and human capital in different educational transitions. In accordance with the theory of effectively maintained inequality (EMI), the parental capitals and social status play the biggest role in accessing secondary education with GCE (high school with diploma) which is precondition to tertiary education. However, detailed analysis shows that poverty and low skills (HC) of parents have biggest effect in early phases of education whereas social, cultural capital and wealth of the parents are drivers of inequality in later transitions. Hence, the EMI theory is not in conflict with life course perspective assuming significant and waning effects of (some) parental capitals. The second paper analyses the relationship between inadequate housing and the school performance of children from poor Czech...

“Play What I Sing”: Economical Potential of the Bearers of Folk Music Tradition in the Cultural Memory of the Czech Lands
Uhlíková, Lucie ; Pavlicová, M.
The economic conditions of folk musicians or their remuneration have been mentioned rather inconsistently in sources and literature of the Czech lands. The participation of musicians in ceremonies, traditions and customs of the calendar, or family occasions was one of their natural activities in rural communities. There are relatively frequent references to paying for a song (which involved leading the singing) and playing according to a demonstrated song, which was widespread in the context of folk dances. Musicians played not only for money, but also for food, drink, or special benefits in kind. For itinerant musicians and singers, musical performances were a major source of their livelihood. Many outstanding rural musicians also earned a living by teaching various instruments. From the end of the 19th century, folk musicians and dancers found more occasions to present themselves to the public, which increased an interest in the financial issue of their production. With the coming of brass music bands and other novelty groups, older traditional rural music groups lost not only their cultural capital, but their economic capital as well. Gradually, however, the emerging folklore movement strengthened the position of folk musicians, including their financial rewards. The question of the remuneration of folk musicians has resonated in cultural memory, thus adding to the unbiased image of traditional folk culture.

Meaning of virtual reality for a social group of NEETs
Bjaček, Jakub ; Pospíšilová, Marie (advisor) ; Krištofič, Peter (referee)
Jakub Bjaček Meaning of virtual reality for a social group of NEETs Abstract In this bachelor thesis I tried to look in more detail on the current issue of NEETs (acronym for "Not in Education, Employment, or Training"), in short, people who usually do not voluntarily participate in socialization through employment or institutional education. I was mainly interested in the reasons why this is so. Whether it is more about external causes (changes in the labour market, youth unemployment, competitive environment) or even causes of an internal nature. The question was where the NEETs are presenting themselves and how they spend time. That is why I focused on an online space in which a certain part of them could be active more visibly. This leaves me a relatively narrow target group of people who can be ranked in the NEETs category and also are active in the online space. These links have built research objectives. The question is how NEETs are presenting themselves in the online space. I was interested in virtual identity as a way to gain new social capital. This bachelor thesis is not about a comprehensive insight into the sociologically issue of NEETs as a whole, but about a certain view on this issue from the perspective of a particular activity (activities in the online environment and the perceptions and...
